If a tree falls in the woods

One of the most interesting things to me about this year’s State of the County (.pdf) address is how little notice it got. It’s been two weeks or so and I have not seen any interesting discussion about it anywhere. That could be due to the fact that the message was somewhat bleak given the state of the economy, or maybe because only one live speech was given this year (just one speech is good because it saved the taxpayers some bucks). Better luck next year.

No one cares about what the boy CE has to say. He has no original ideas of his own and is just a political cronie trying to climb the political ladder.

And, how many times are we gonna see a picture of this guy attending a function or a speech and putting his finger to his chin while looking wonderingly at the speaker and nodding his head in agreement at every word? What a baffoon!

It was a good speech as far as showing appreciation, and relaying to us some of what we may have missed by reading the local county newspaper.

I believe there was a golden opportunity, missed, to express what we face this coming year, what our county goals are and how we are going to get there.

But, a speech about the coming year,is the kind of speech given by a leader, not a politician.
