Organ Donation
This looks like an interesting way to increase the amount of organs available for those in need of transplants. The idea behind it is to reduce “free riders”. Free riders are those who will gladly accept someone else’s donated organs, but are unwilling to donate their own should they become deceased. It would be great if more people would agree to donate their organs when they pass on. After all, to donate one’s organs is an unselfish act that will save lives without costing the donator anything of value. I suppose someone who truly advocates free markets would want a system of selling organs. This seems to me like an area that would produce all kinds of ethical dilemmas, so I am not sure free markets in organs is such a great idea. Anybody disagree?
