you can find just as many people going out of the US for care as entering for care.
Our care stinks. Yeah, incompetent doctors are available, but we no more healthy. We're worse! 1 out of 10 doctors is probably competent, the other 9 just pack waiting rooms full of patients and rake in mega bucks.
Here's one of many examples:
Saw my orthopedist the other day. Because of their front desk inadequacy, they ended up telling me there were 4 doctors on duty. I counted 20 clusters of people, YES, the doctors had 5 people stacked up for each physician in the waiting room. THEN when the orth saw me, he didn't feel like looking at the x-rays, saying, "I'm not the best guy to look at those". Excuse me?
There's no retribution for their complete buffoonery. My orth's reward is that 5 more peole are waiting to see him.
Anon, you make good points about the absurdity of the medical labor unions like the AMA and government licensure of physicians. You are absolutely correct that there is little or no retribution for buffoonery, and that is largely because the supply of doctors is so heavily regulated.
