Just say no

It’s nice to know that the council knows how to say “no” to the school system. Government seems to be functioning as a technology used by special interests groups (in this case parents with kids in public schools) to curry favor at the expense of the every other taxpayer. The function of government as a provider of courts of law, roads, etc. seems to be less important than oiling the squeaky wheels of society who want something for nothing.

I have been watching different Councils for about 20 years or so. This is probably the smartest, least partisan Council that really tries to do what they think is right. It pays to have a smart conservative, a mediator with a doctorate, a conservative Dem, and 2 liberals to balance things out.

Anon, spoken like a true politician.

This is going down in history as the worst council the county has ever had. Worse, the residents will look back on their tenure as the reign that upended rights (referendum) and put themselves so far above the law that a virtual monarchy was born.
