Just a few things…

Just a couple of random musings for today.

First, if you are reading this blog, you may also be interested in Howard County Issues, a new free paper. I picked up a copy when I was at the library yesterday and I see that there is a brief article in the Baltimore Sun about it today. It’s worth a look, and it’s free!

Second, congratulations to fellow blogger Evan Coren for winning a seat on the Columbia Council. As a former resident of King’s Contrivance, I wish Evan well in his new position.

Third, and most importantly, my hat goes off to Oakland Mills resident and Save Merriweather founder Ian Kennedy who ran for the OM seat on the Columbia Council. I was extremely disappointed to see that Ian didn’t make it, but I have no doubt he will do much bigger and better things.

Finally, I am disappointed at the voter turnout in the Columbia Association elections in general. I read that the Town Center voter participation was an abysmal 10.7%. Numbers like that suggest that the CA is not engaging the village residents as it should. And yet, all the incumbents were re-elected.

Can this weather be beat?
